The following is to be considered a "Ultimate" version of the X-Men set roughly in current time with Charles Xavier and the original team being founded in the early 80s. This allows freedoms of characters and if someone wants to play an established character they can without haveing to stick close to the canon history. This goes for any hero or villian in the Marvel universe that can and would appear in these stories. Feel free to change anything and everything about the character or make up a totally new one.

Cerebro sat meditation style under a large oak in the center of the grounds. He faced outward away from the Institute with his eyes closed and his palms out. His breathing was slow and delibreate to the point that when one looked at him one would wonder if he was breathing at all. One would also think that the current leader of the X-Men and recently named headmaster of the school would be easy prey. They would be wrong on that count as well.
Cerebro was named thus due to his extremely powerful telepathic and telekinetic abilities by now retiring Charles Xavier himself when Cerebro first came here back when it was simply call the Xavier School for Gifted Childern. A small smile tugged at the mutant's lips as he thought of the life had led for the last fifteen years. Bittersweet more often then not given the teammates that have died or left for some reason. Xavier's announcement two weeks ago of his departure was the most shocking of all. Like everyone else Cerebro truely thought that he would lead the fight for full mutant rights forever. Of course Xavier was getting on in years and certainly deserved a chance to rest. With Scott Summers picking up the fight in Washington DC in his surrogent father's name, Cerebro was the next logical choice to take over.
Without opening his eyes, Cerebro cocked his head to one side and said in a clear loud voice, "You of all people should know I cant really be snuck up on. No matter how good you are."

"And you of all people should know, I really don't want to be here. But here I stand." The very thought of her being at a school made her sick. But this man before her could be very persuasive.
One week ago she was Anna Creed, 29 years old brown haired waitress. That was were she met Cerebro. She even drooped a coffee pot when she saw his eyes. At that moment she knew he was like her, a mutant. Hearing his voice in her head didn't help. But made matters worse.
She had fought all her life to hide who she was, and what she could do. Twenty-nine years she had won the fight. And in that moment, one man destroyed that.
Untapped raw mutant power, she never tried to use them. And if she did, Anna would only ignore the images she saw. Sometimes when she would touch someone she could see what they had done in the past. As if she was tapping into someones memories.
She was too old to be a student, yet there she stood. It took her three day, and several phone calls, before she made her decision. She was tried of hiding. Tried of lying to herself. She wondered just how powerful she was?
Relaxing , she took a deep breath. "Where do we start?"

"You already started when you took the first step on this new journey in your life, little Rogue." replied Cerebro in the same clear voice, his eyes remained shut in the same calm meditative manner he started this converstation with. "Now, we must decide if you are going to just learn about your powers of if you wish to take a...more active role in the mutant issue."

Without so much as a hint of warning, the ground just in front of Rogue surged up as if from an explosion knocking her to her backside. She saw three figures step out from a cluster of nearby trees and stand in a loose formation around her prone body. Each one was wearing similar black and gold uniforms.
"You can guess Avalanche's power," Cerebro said maddenly calm nodding to the leader of the trio, "Your task is to not only determine what the others are able to do but get past them to safe haven, that would be the tree I am sitting under. It is my belief that you can do more then read a person's thoughts when you make skin contact with them. I think you are also able to copy their powers and possibly know how to use them to their fullest potential even if their owners do not. Consider this a simple evaluation test."
The one called Avalanche lifted both his hands, aiming them at Rogue. The air around them began to shimmer...

The first movement she did, was drop her backpack in shock. The next was to stare passed the three masses in front of her to glare at the professor. "I hate you."
"So much for a peaceful getaway," she thought. Slowly she reached her hand out to the one called Avalanche. As the ground rumbled beneath her. Growing in power the ground moved. She how ever was not moving. Falling directly onto her back, she suddenly regretted her decision to come. Pain shot up her back as she repeated, "I really hate you."
"Fine, I get it," Anna said as she stood. Moving as fast as she could, and reaching out as fair as her fingers would stretched, she jumped. The tip of her little finger grazed his neck. But that was all the contacted she needed.
"Dominic," she said. I like that name better. You can generate powerful waves of vibrations. Nice. My turn?"
Reaching out her hands, she cleared her mind. Then.... nothing.
"Hey Yoda, not working here?"

"You have to do more then just read their powers," was all Cerebro said in that calm manner of his. "You must focus, copy their abilities and concentrate even in the most trying of circumstances."
The smallest of the three stepped forward. The girl had been the farthest one back in the formation and now seemed to be growing taller in front of everyone. The sudden growth spurt did not just stop at a normal height, the girl sooned towered over the tallest trees. "Name's Stature," she said almost innocently as she brought her massive hand down to slam Anna like a fly.

Caught off guard once again. Anna was grateful the giant hand above her was cupped just enough not to kill her.
Her body and mind ached. But she stayed focused. Pressing her hand firmly against the palm of the giant hand, images assaulted her. Filling her mind with a life not her own. It was the first time she had fully opened her mind to the "images." Going into almost overload she screamed.
She knew her real name, her powers, and what she had for breakfast. The images showed her everything she had touched for the last forty-eight hours. She saw the conversion to plain Anna's arrival to the mansion. But what the professor was asking her to do was just out of her reach. The information she was getting was giving her a mind numbing head ache. And that pain was for nothing.
Anna could not take it any more. Crawling though a small space between the large fingers to escape.
"Look, not some all powerful mutant that your making me out to be," she said as she grabbed her back pack. "Sorry, just not what your looking for."
Without looking back Anna walked up the stairs and into the Mansion.

"Your pushing her too hard," a woman's voice sounded in Cerebro's mind. He fought not to let his smile be know either on his face or in his thoughts.
He looked at the trio and nodded to them, "You did well, finish your training session in the Danger Room with Logan."
Cerebro stood and began his own solomn walk towards the manner casting his thoughts out to the woman's telepathic voice, "I was under the impression you did not wish to be involved in this, I believe the term you used was sheer folly."
"And I still don't. The young woman is not only not ready to join the X-Men, she isn't even ready to embrace the fact that she is a mutant. The idea disgusts her."
"None the less, Emma," Cerebro sent as he entered the building and made his way towards his office. "She must come to terms with that little fact of life and better she do it here then in some Hellfire Club facility. Or are you still going to deny your former comrade Sebastion Shaw is collecting alpha-class mutants for some reason."
"Your placement test proves she hardly qualifies as an alpha-class!" Emma practically yelled in his mind so loud he whinced. "A beta-level touch telepath maybe..."
"Enough, Emma!" Cerebro sent sternly, "The decision has been made, Anna Creed's being here is as much to help her as it is to protect her. The cerebro-computer scanned her when it first detected her and her readings were off the charts. If we know this then so does Shaw, making her a target for whatever he has planned"
Cerebro sighed as he sat down at his desk in the headmaster's office. Argueing with the esteemed Emma Frost seemed to be an everyday occurance ever since Xavier's annoucement. It would appear that she did not take to well being passed over for the headmaster slot, or as leader of the X-Men, but it was something that she was just going to have to get over in her own time and manner. In the meantime there were things that needed to be done.
"Send a 'quiet-powers' team out to see if they can uncover anything at Shaw's industrial complex out in Long Island" he sent once he was sure that Emma was not going to try and continue the arguement.
"And you are going to do in the meantime..."
"After evening meal I will have a talk with Anna."
"To what end?"
Another sigh escaped Cerebro's lungs, "To lay all the cards onto the table. To inform her as to why she must learn the full nature of her powers in order to be able to defend herself from whatever Shaw has up his sleeve."

Sitting on a couch, inside the main palor, Gambit was playing a game of solitaire as he noticed the brunette run by. "Oh my a damsel in distress." He smirked, "This is up my alley." He got up to go after her and finally catching up to her in the hallway, he asked in his most gentlemanly fashion, "May I be of some assistance cher?"

"No am fine!" Anna turned to say, "what is with you people." But when she caught sight of who was standing behind her. All that came out was,"what?"
He was the most beautiful creature she had seen. She tried to hide what she was feeling for him. Someone she had just meet. But it was hard. This had never happed to her before.
Pulling herself together she manged to say,"Do you know where am supposed to say in this maze. Do I have a room?"

"I see you meet Gambit," Cerebro said clearing his throat as he came down the hallway from his office, "Gambit, may I present Miss Anna Creed, the little rogue I was telling you about."
He turned back to Rogue, "Yes you have a place to bed down, we would be poor hosts indeed if we didn't provide you a place to sleep. That is if you still wish to stay around for more then a few hours."

"Dis place could confuse anybody even ol' prof X himself." He said as he took her hand to lead her down the hall.

"Does he always do that?" She said as she walked along side Gambit down the long hallway. Her hand still holding his. Her mind focused like she had always done in the past. Anna blocked out the information her touch was getting. But with him it was hard.
On the outside she remained claim."Come out of nowhere and interrupt peoples conversations?"

Smiling, Gambit said "Aw, he don' mean to be so faward, but he mean well, cher." He said as he led her down the cooridor. As reached Rouge's old room, he paused for a second and glanced at her door.
"Come on, I believe your room's dis way." He said in his thick cajun accent.
